SemChat pricing: what you really pay, plan by plan
SemChat pricing as of 29 October 2026: €0 on Free, €20 a month on Starter, €100 on Pro 5x and €200 on Pro 20x, or 20% less billed yearly. Prices are in euros, even on the English page. Every plan has every feature; only your monthly usage changes.
You want to know what SemChat will really cost you, not just the sticker price. Here is SemChat pricing as checked on 29 October 2026: what the Free plan really allows, monthly versus yearly, and the costs people miss, top-ups and taxes. To decide whether the tool is worth it at all, read our SemChat review.

Every feature in every plan: only usage changes
That’s the rule of the pricing page, in its own words: “Every feature, in every plan. Just pick your monthly usage.” And in its FAQ: “Plans differ only in how much monthly usage you get.” The Free plan has the same 17 skills as Pro 20x and the same 8 connectors (Search Console, Analytics, WordPress…). What you pay for is how much work SemChat does for you each month.
Good news for testing: you judge the real product, not a cut-down version. The less good news: you can’t tell in advance how many audits or questions each plan holds. More on that below.
Tokens, not searches: how usage is counted
Most SEO tools count searches or exports. SemChat counts tokens: “Each analysis consumes tokens,” says the FAQ, “a simple measure of how much work semchat does for you.” Each plan includes a monthly token allowance. When you get close to it, SemChat warns you, and everything resets at the start of your next billing cycle (pricing page FAQ, 30 October 2026).
Prices in euros: what a US buyer should know
SemChat is published by a French company, and the English pricing page shows every price in euros. No dollar price is published. I won’t convert them for you: the rate changes, and I have no dated source for what a US card is actually charged. Whether checkout shows dollars, and any foreign transaction fee from your bank, are missing data (source planned: SemChat checkout and your bank).
The €0 Free plan: what it really allows
The Free plan needs no credit card and doesn’t expire after a few days: its quota comes back every month. No time-limited trial of the paid plans is announced on the pages I read; the Free plan plays that role.
One full audit used up 100% of the Free quota
On 29 October 2026, I asked SemChat for a full SEO audit of my site, in one sentence. It returned an action plan in about 3 minutes. The cost: 100% of the Free plan’s monthly quota, split between documents (39.2%), site analysis (32%) and SEO tools (28.9%).
In practice, the Free plan gives you one full audit a month, or a few lighter questions. Enough to judge the tool on your own site. Not enough to follow a site week after week.

Token quotas SemChat doesn’t publish
The pricing page gives no token numbers, only “light usage,” “5×” or “20× more usage than Starter.” In the app, the Usage screen shows a percentage, split into five areas: conversations, SEO tools, visuals, documents and site analysis. You see where your quota goes, not how many audits are left. Until SemChat publishes its quotas, I won’t put numbers on them.

Starter, Pro 5x, Pro 20x: which plan fits which site
No difference in features. The whole difference is monthly usage, which SemChat gives as multiples of Starter: 5 times more for Pro 5x, 20 times more for Pro 20x.
Starter at €20 a month: for a solo founder
SemChat aims it at “solo founders who want to get seen online.” One real-life benchmark: during the SemChat course, on this plan, about a dozen demos on a real site (lessons 3 to 15, 29 October 2026) took the counter from 0 to 55.7% of the month’s usage. For one site and a few questions a week, this is the plan to pick.
Pro 5x and Pro 20x: for several projects or daily use
Pro 5x carries the “Most popular” badge and targets “frequent users working across several projects.” Pro 20x targets “daily users collaborating on heavy analyses.” The workspace has a Members tab to invite teammates. If you run sites for several clients, start on Starter and watch your counter before moving up.
The right plan for your case, with prices before tax from the pricing page:
- You just want to know what’s wrong with your site: Free, at €0. One full audit a month, then you work through the action plan at your own pace.
- You run your business site on your own and ask questions every week: Starter, €20 a month, so €240 over a year billed monthly or €192 billed yearly.
- You look after several sites, yours or clients’: Pro 5x, €100 a month. Move up only if Starter runs out several months in a row.
- A team that analyses every day: Pro 20x, €200 a month. The only case where the top plan pays off.
In every case, the Usage screen tells you where you stand: watch it during your first month before you switch plans.
Monthly or yearly: the maths
Yearly billing is “the same plan at a 20% discount, charged once a year.” Over one year, before tax:
| Plan | 12 months billed monthly | Billed yearly | Saved over a year |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | 12 × €20 = €240 | €192 | €48 |
| Pro 5x | 12 × €100 = €1,200 | €960 | €240 |
| Pro 20x | 12 × €200 = €2,400 | €1,920 | €480 |
Yearly only pays off if you already know you’ll keep the tool for a year. Start monthly, switch to yearly once your usage is steady. The pricing page says you can change plans “Anytime” from your account, and your billing is adjusted automatically.
The costs people miss: top-ups and taxes
Token top-ups: when they are worth it
Once your quota is used up, SemChat offers to top up your balance so you can keep going. Top-ups are used after your plan’s quota and stay valid for 12 months. The more you top up, the less you pay (prices before tax, read in the app on 29 October 2026):
| Top-up | Price paid, before tax | Discount |
|---|---|---|
| €50 of credit | €45 | 10% |
| €250 of credit | €200 | 20% |
| €1,000 of credit | €700 | 30% |
You can also pick any amount from €5 to €1,000. An automatic top-up below a threshold exists; it’s off by default, so leave it that way until you know your usage.
When a top-up is worth it: one busy month on a plan that’s enough the rest of the year. When it isn’t: if you top up every month, the plan above will likely cost you less. Other tools have their own extras: our page on the Semrush price adds up its plans and the add-ons billed on top.

Tax: what the pricing page doesn’t say
The English pricing page says nothing about tax. SemChat’s terms say taxes, including VAT for customers in the European Union, are calculated and added at payment.
One fact settles it for Europe: my first Starter invoice, as a customer in France, was €24 including VAT for €20 shown. So read every SemChat price as a price before tax. For a US customer, the tax applied is missing data (source planned: SemChat checkout); I won’t guess.
Refund guarantee and cancelling
- Payment: through Stripe, with SemChat as the seller (terms read on 29 October 2026).
- Cancelling: under Billing; you keep access until the end of the period you paid for (checked in the app).
- Guarantee: SemChat’s terms dated 21 May 2026 mention a 30-day money-back guarantee for new subscribers. But those same terms describe another service, a rank tracker billed per page, and the English pricing page doesn’t mention any guarantee. Until SemChat confirms it for the current offer, don’t count on it.
The careful move stays the same: test on the Free plan before you pay.
Pay less: 10% off for life through the link
Sign up through my link and subscribe within 2 weeks: you pay 10% less, for life. No code to type. This discount appears on neither the pricing page nor the affiliate page of semchat.io: its only source is an email from Adrian Delmarre, of Haloscan, dated 29 October 2026, and it doesn’t say which billing options are covered (monthly, yearly, top-ups).
The discounted price of each plan is worked out on our SemChat promo code page.
Is SemChat worth the price? Pros and cons

What works for it:
- a real Free plan, with no card and every feature;
- a paid entry at €20 a month before tax, €16 billed yearly;
- an action plan in about 3 minutes, instead of learning an SEO tool;
- top-ups valid for 12 months, up to 30% cheaper.
What works against it:
- token quotas with no published equivalent;
- a Free plan that holds one full audit a month;
- prices in euros only, before tax, without saying so on the page;
- results to check: some search volumes are far from Google Ads figures, in both directions.
For the full test, mistakes included, see our SemChat review.
My take on SemChat pricing: €20 a month is worth it if you swap hours of research for a list of actions you actually apply. If you only have one question a month, stay on Free. Whatever plan you pick, go through the link within 2 weeks: 10% less, for life.
Frequently asked questions
How much does SEO cost monthly with SemChat?
€20 a month on Starter, €100 on Pro 5x and €200 on Pro 20x, or €16, €80 and €160 a month billed yearly (€192, €960 and €1,920 a year). Prices read on semchat.io on 29 October 2026, shown in euros before tax. The tax a US customer pays isn't published.
Can you use SemChat for free?
Yes. The Free plan costs €0, needs no credit card and includes every feature. Usage is light, though: on 29 October 2026, one full audit of my site used up 100% of its monthly quota. Enough to judge the tool, not to work with it every week.
Is SEO free of cost, or do you need a paid plan?
The work itself is free if you do it yourself: fixing pages, writing content, getting listed. A paid tool saves research time. With SemChat, the Free plan covers about one full audit a month; a paid plan makes sense once you ask it questions every week.
How do you cancel a SemChat subscription?
In your workspace settings, under Billing. You keep access until the end of the period you paid for (checked in the app on 29 October 2026). The pricing page also says you can switch plans anytime from your account.
