ChatSEO review: our verdict, based on official pages

ChatSEO says, on its about page, that it’s built for founders, marketers and agencies who want Google traffic without becoming SEO experts. If that’s you, and your site runs on WordPress, it deserves a close look. If you’d rather try something without a card first, or you run several sites on a small budget, read on before you sign up.

How we reviewed ChatSEO: official pages only, and our SemChat affiliation

Two things you should know. First, I have no ChatSEO affiliate link: its program pays 30% for life, and I didn’t join it. Second, I’m an affiliate of SemChat, a direct competitor. To stay fair, I didn’t test anything at ChatSEO: every fact comes from its official pages, read on October 29, 2026, with their addresses at the bottom of this page. Much of its help center is in French; quotes from it are my translations.

What ChatSEO is: a chat assistant for Google traffic, made in France

ChatSEO is published by GROW IT, a small company in Normandy, France. It was founded in 2025 by three partners, including Paul Vengeons, an SEO consultant since 2020. Its home page claims more than 20,000 site owners, a figure I can’t check.

The promise fits in one line from the home page: connect your Search Console, ask your question, and within seconds you know exactly what to create, fix and prioritize. Before each answer, you see the tools it ran. It remembers your business, audience and competitors from one chat to the next.

Is ChatSEO the same thing as ChatGPT?

No. ChatGPT is a general assistant that knows what you paste into it. ChatSEO is an SEO tool with a chat window, connected to your own data: Search Console for clicks and rankings, DataForSEO for volumes, difficulty, SERPs and backlinks, Ahrefs’ Domain Rating for authority. The answers themselves are written by Claude, Anthropic’s model (help center and subprocessor page). I like that it names all of this.

Who ChatSEO is built for: founders, marketers and agencies

The plans say it clearly. Starter is pitched at solo founders new to SEO, Pro at founders and consultants who want to move faster, and Ranker at agencies running several sites.

What ChatSEO does, job by job

It reads your Search Console and answers the question you type

You connect Search Console, read-only. Then you type a question in plain words. ChatSEO returns a list of actions ranked by impact, based on your real clicks and impressions.

Twelve agents, from internal links to local SEO and GEO

Every plan gives you 12 agents. They cover internal links, structured data, indexing audits, keyword research, local SEO with your Google Business Profile, and a GEO agent that works on getting you cited by AI tools. A link-finding agent looks for free links (forums, directories) but, in ChatSEO’s words, doesn’t place the links for you.

Type in a competitor’s domain and ChatSEO lists the keywords where it ranks and you don’t, sorted by volume, difficulty and CPC. It follows up to 10 competitors per site.

Publishing to WordPress, and an MCP server from the Pro plan

ChatSEO writes briefs and posts, then publishes them to WordPress, as drafts or live. Its optional plugin handles Gutenberg blocks and the Yoast, Rank Math or AIOSEO fields. As of October 29, 2026, WordPress is the only CMS you can connect: the help center says so, and Shopify is “pending validation”.

Its MCP server has 38 tools and connects to Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or VS Code, with no key to copy. A REST API described in OpenAPI comes with it. Both need the Pro plan: Starter has no GA4 and no MCP.

How ChatSEO pricing works

Prices are before tax: Starter at €29 a month, Pro at €49, Ranker at €79, with 20% off for a year (€23.20, €39.20 and €63.20 a month). The pricing file adds: “Prices excl. VAT, in EUR (same amounts in USD).” The Agency offer starts at €200 a month, on quote. Each plan gives credits, and “1 credit = 1 message sent”.

There’s no free plan. The trial lasts 7 days, with 30 credits, and your card is saved with Stripe from the start. You get a reminder at least 3 days before the first charge. After that, you have 7 days to ask for a full refund, once. The details are on the ChatSEO pricing page.

Where ChatSEO is stronger, and where it stops

Named data sources and a clear credit rule

The quota needs no calculator: one message, one credit, and an answer that errors out doesn’t count. The publisher is reachable by chat and email, with a human answer within 24 hours on business days. There’s no commitment, and you can pause for 1 to 3 months.

No prompt tracking, WordPress as the only CMS, contradictions between pages

What I like is that ChatSEO writes down what it doesn’t do. It doesn’t monitor your citations in ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini or Claude: no prompt tracking. It doesn’t crawl your whole site for technical issues, broken links or 404s. And its SEO agent FAQ says the execution (writing, building links, fixing technical issues) stays on your side.

Its pages also disagree in three places, as read on October 29, 2026. On the free start, the SEO agent page says it’s free to start, with no card; the pricing page requires a card. On CMS support, the home page lists “WordPress, Shopify or Webflow”; the help center says only WordPress can be connected. On rankings, one page promises tracking around the clock, another says there’s no automated daily rank tracking. Trust the pricing page and the help center.

The structured data on ChatSEO’s home page shows a rating of 4.8 out of 5, from 46 reviews. The page doesn’t say where those reviews come from. I quote it as data from its site, not as my judgment.

Can you use ChatSEO and SemChat together?

You could, but most people will pick one: they do the same job. Here’s how to choose.

When ChatSEO is the better fit

Pick ChatSEO if you want the tool to publish to WordPress for you, to drive it from Claude or ChatGPT through its MCP server, or if named data sources matter to you. Its GEO agent and the Google Business Profile audit come with Starter.

When SemChat is the better fit

SemChat makes the same promise, with a Free plan at €0 and no card, every feature included, then Starter at €20 a month. It’s published by ARCHI301, the company behind Haloscan, whose data it uses for France; for other countries, its providers aren’t named. It also connects to Bing Webmaster Tools, Webflow, Slack and Notion. Be clear-eyed: on October 29, 2026, one full audit used 100% of its Free plan’s monthly quota.
